No. 2 Aggies Host UCLA for NCAA Super Regional

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team faces the No. 17 UCLA Bruins in Friday's NCAA Tournament Super Regional action. First serve at Mitchell Tennis Center is 2 p.m.
The only program to advance to the last three NCAA Elite Eights, the Aggies look continue their march to back-to-back national championships.
Texas A&M is 27-3 on the season and earned a share of its fourth consecutive SEC regular season crown with a 14-1 league ledger. The Aggies opened NCAA Tournament play with wins over Quinnipiac (4-0) and UC Santa Barbara (4-1).
The Maroon & White feature No. 1 ITA ranked singles player in Mary Stoiana, followed by Nicole Khirin (No. 13), Lucciana Perez (No. 51), Mia Kupres (No. 67), and Daria Smetannikov (No. 109). In doubles they bring in Stoiana/Perez coming in at No. 25. Stoiana and Khirin earned All-SEC First Team recognition while Perez and Kupres claimed second team spots.
UCLA comes into Brazos County with an 18-8 overall record, including 10-3 in the Big Ten Conference. After taking down No. 16 seed Vanderbilt on their turf in the second round, the Bruins search for a third national title and first since 2014. UCLA is led by No. 31 Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer who is 26-8 on the year. The Bruins other ranked singles players include Kate Fakih (No. 39), Elise Wagle (No. 62) and Kimmi Hance (No. 93).
The Bruins hold a 2-1 all-time advantage against the Aggies. The last match was in 2021 with UCLA capturing the victory 4-3 in Los Angeles.
