No. 13 Aggies Kickoff Spring Slate with Doubleheader
Jan 16, 2026 | Men's Tennis
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 13 Texas A&M men's tennis team hosts an opening weekend doubleheader against UTSA and UTA on Saturday at the Mitchell Tennis Center, with matches set for 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
"Our matches this weekend against UTSA and UT Arlington are a great way to open the spring schedule," head coach Steve Denton said. "This weekend gives us a chance to get our feet wet and helps us establish a line-up. Once we do that, we will be able to get into a rhythm and be prepared for the ITA Kickoff Weekend next week."
No. 73 Alex Frusina led the way for the Aggies in the fall, putting up a 9-5 singles campaign that was topped off by a trip to the NCAA Championships. Senior Ethan Silva also had a successful fall in singles, compiling a 9-2 mark which included winning his flight at the Waco Fall Kickoff Classic and winning the consolation draw at the ITA Texas Regional.
The Aggies lead the series against the Roadrunners, 8-1. In their latest meeting, the Maroon & White topped the Orange & Blue, 6-1, last season. Senior Togan Tokac, junior Tiago Pires and sophomores Theo Papamalamis and Ritesh Patil all picked up singles victories against UTSA.
The Aggies own a perfect 8-0 record against the Mavericks, and the teams last met up in 2023, with the Maroon & White sweeping 4-0.
