Texas A&M’s Late Surge Comes Up Short at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Texas A&M women's basketball team nearly pulled off a comeback with a late fourth-quarter push but to the Missouri Tigers 81-70 at Mizzou Arena Sunday night.
The Aggies (8-8, 1-6 SEC) were led by Ny'Ceara Pryor's 22-point, seven assist and five rebound performance and Janae Kent who tallied 15 points. Jordan Webster pitched in 12 points off the bench with four made 3-pointers.
The teams played to a 5-4 Missouri lead with 6:13 left in the opening quarter. Webster nailed a triple at the 3:40 mark, but the Tigers (14-9, 2-6 SEC) went on a 13-5 run to make the score 21-9 to close out the opening period.
Mizzou raced out in the second frame, pushing its lead to 17, but the Aggies used a 7-0 run capped off by a buzzer beater by Pryor in the last 1:49 of the first half to cut the lead to 35-25.
The Maroon & White was unable to utilize that late second half momentum as the Tigers extended their lead to 19 after 30 minutes, 59-40. The Maroon & White outscored the Tigers 30-22 in the final frame, led by Pryor's 12 points and four assists and Webster's three 3-pointers. Despite the late push the Aggies fell short on the road.
The Maroon & White stay away from home as they take on the No. 16 Oklahoma Sooners Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. inside the Lloyd Noble Center.
