
No. 3 Aggies Host Super Regional versus No. 13 USC

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies play the No. 13 USC Trojans in the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship Super Regional round Friday. First serves at the Mitchell Tennis Center are set for 2 p.m.
Texas A&M advanced to the Super Regional with wins over Quinnipiac in the first round 4-0, and Baylor in the second round 4-1. With the wins, the Aggies move to 24–5 on the season.
The Maroon & White are led by No. 1 Lucciana Perez who was named the SEC Player of the Year. She was joined on the All-SEC list by second-teamer Mia Kupres. Perez is 25-0 this season, all in dual action. She finished the SEC slate with a 13-0 ledger. Kupres is ranked No. 50 with a 15-9 record. Three other Aggies on the ITA rankings include Ilinca Amariei at No. 71, Daria Smetannikov at No. 98 and Lexington Reed at No. 106.
The Aggies have won 84 of their last 85 home matches and earned a share of its fifth consecutive SEC title with a 13-2 conference record. This marks the Maroon & White's seventh straight trip to the Super Regionals. With a win they secure their fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA quarterfinal round.
The Trojans are 21-6 on the season and registered a 12-1 mark in Big Ten action. USC took a similar path to the Aggies in advancing to the Super Regional, blanking Sacramento State, 4-0, and topping No. 23 California, 4-1. Jana Hossam is USC's top-ranked player, earning the No. 23 spot. The Trojans' lineup also boasts No. 57 Emma Charney and No. 107 Eugenia Zozaya. Hossam is 24-12 on the season with a 10-8 record on court 1. Charney is 21-9 on the season and posted a 10-0 mark in Big Ten play. Zozaya leads the team with a 31-5 record, including a 20-2 mark in dual action.
The all-time series is tied at 2-2. This marks the first time they play in College Station. In the most recent meeting, Texas A&M won 4-1 in 2022 ITA National Indoor Championship action in Madison, Wisconsin.
The winner faces No. 5 North Carolina or No. 12 Michigan in the NCAA Championship quarterfinals Friday, May 15 in Athens, Georgia.
