2024-25 (Junior):
- Returned to the podium at NCAA Championships with a seventh-place finish in the 400 IM, adding Honorable Mention All-America accolades with a 14th-place finish in the 200 IM.
- Earned a silver medal in the 400 IM with an A-cut time of 3:37.47, adding a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM (1:41.43) and sixth in the 200 breast (1:53.24) at SEC Championships, while also helping the 400 medley relay lower the school record.
- Added a season-best B-cut time of 1:34.35 in the 200 free at Texas.
- Clocked NCAA B-cuts with times of 1:53.77 in the 200 breast. 1:42.78 in the 200 IM and 3:39.35 in the 400 IM at the Art Adamson Invite.
- Earned CSC Academic All-America Third Team and CSC Academic All-District Team accolades.
2023-24 (Sophomore):
- Clocked a 3:37.46 in the 400 IM at NCAA Championships to set a new school record and place third, adding an eighth-place time of 1:41.54 in the 200 IM and assisting the 200 medley relay team to a top-16 finish.
- Earned the Commissioner's Trophy at SEC Championships after defending both of his IM titles and adding a bronze medal in the 200 breast. He became the first SEC swimmer to sweep the IM events in back-to-back seasons since the 1993 and 1994 championships.
- Lowered his personal best with a time of 1:52.43 in the 200 breast, while also clocking the third-fastest time in program history in the 100 back (45.98) as the 400 medley relay leadoff at SECs.
- Posted a season-best time of 1:41.82 in the 200 back at the Art Adamson Invite.
- Swam a personal-best time in the 200 fly, going 1:46.05 at the Last Chance Meet.
- Named to the All-SEC First Team for the second consecutive year.
- Earned CSC Academic All-District and CSC Academic All-America Third Team honors.
- Honored as the Danny Green Memorial MVP at the annual Men's Swimming & Diving Team Banquet.
2022-23 (Freshman):
- Received Honorable Mention All-America honors as he finished second in the 400 IM Consolation Final at NCAA Championships, clocked a personal-best 3:38.11 that ranks eighth in the nation. Nelson became the first swimmer in program history to earn two individual top-10 finishes his freshman year.
- Earned his first individual career All-America award as he notched seventh in the 200 IM Championship Final at NCAA Championships, making him the first freshman swimmer in school history to finish top eight at NCAAs.
- Contributed to the 800 free relay's top-16 finish at NCAA Championships, earning Honorable Mention All-America accolades and bettering his 200 free split to 1:32.51.
- Qualified for two individual events, notching NCAA A-cut times in the 200 IM, 400 IM.
- Was the co-recipient of the SEC Commissioner's Trophy, scoring the most points in the meet with two gold and one silver medal.
- Posted a personal best of 1:39.79 in the 200 back A-final at SEC Championships, earning silver and becoming the second Aggie in program history to tally three individual medals at SEC Championships.
- Garnered his second gold medal in the 400 IM, continuing to hold the second-fastest time in school history.
- Swam a career-best, A-cut time of 1:40.86 in the 200 IM at SEC Championships and became the first freshman in A&M men's swimming history to claim gold at SECs. The time ranked No. 7 in the nation for the season.
- Went a career-best 1:34.76 in the 200 free in his Aggie debut at the SMU Classic.
- Was named to the All-SEC First Team and SEC All-Freshman team.
- Garnered SEC Freshman of the Week after an Aggie win at the Art Adamson Invite. Nelson swept the individual medley events, notching an A-cut time of 3:38.39 in the 400 IM and just missing the cut in the 200 IM, with both times tabbed as the second-fastest in school history.
Before A&M:
- Served as team captain his senior year while swimming for Community School of Davidson, where he was coached by Jeff Patterson. Earned Scholastic All-American honors his freshman through senior year.
- Boasted MVP honors at 1A/2A state championship during junior year.
- Was a four-time state champion in the 200 IM and a three-time state champion in the 100 fly.
- Holds school records in the 100 fly, 100 free, 200 free, 100 back, 50 free, 200 IM, 100 breast, 4x100 free relay, 4x50 free relay and 4x50 medley relay.
- Spent 10 years swimming for SwimMac Carolina, the Summer Junior National team champions of 2019.
- Qualified for wave two of Olympic trials.
