Accomplished goalkeeper coach Ali Hanif joined Texas A&M as a member of Bobby Shuttlworth’s initial staff in January 2026.
Hanif arrived in Aggieland with a wealth of coaching experience dating back to 2008, including NCAA Division I stops at Kansas State, Arizona State, Cal State Bakersfield and Illinois State.
Most recently he spent the 2025 season as assistant coach/goalkeeper coach at Kansas State. His duties included goalkeeper training, contributing to team defense and assisting with recruiting. With Hanif’s mentoring, netminder Maddie Sibbing set Wildcats’ records for wins (7), shutouts (7), consecutive shutouts (5) and consecutive shutout minutes (504). The team sported a program-best 1.11 goals against average.
Hanif served as assistant coach/goalkeeper coach at Arizona State for the 2023 and ’24 seasons. He helped the Sun Devils earn an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2023 behind an All-PAC-12 season from Pauline Nelles, who set a program record with nine shutouts and posted a 0.95 goals-against average (ASU’s lowest since 2007).
Before Tempe, Hanif was an assistant coach and interim head coach at Cal State Bakersfield (2022-23) while also serving as director of goalkeeping for South Valley Surf Club. He previously coached at Illinois State (2021-22), MidAmerica Nazarene (2019-21), and held director of goalkeeping roles with clubs including KC Athletics SC ECNL (2018-21) and Midwest Premier FC (2015-18).
Hanif's extensive coaching background includes a decade-long stint with Manchester United FC Academy & Foundation (2008-18) in various goalkeeper and assistant roles, as well as positions in England's college and middle school systems. He has been a national convention presenter and coach educator for United Soccer Coaches (2022-present), including presentations in 2024 and 2025, and has worked with ODP programs in Arizona and Kansas.
Hanif holds a robust set of certifications, including USSF B License, UEFA B Goalkeeping License, USSF C Goalkeeping License, United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Goalkeeping License, English F.A. Goalkeeping License, and Scottish F.A. Goalkeeping License.
A native of Manchester, England, Hanif earned a bachelor's degree in coaching and sports development from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2015.
Hanif is joined in Aggieland by his wife Jamie and dogs Mr. Poe and Nynette.
