Tim Strader joined the soccer program in December 2024 and serves as an assistant coach for the Aggies. He comes to Texas A&M after a stint as assistant at Cal Baptist since 2018.
“We are all excited about the addition of Tim into our soccer family,” Guerrieri said. “He is a fantastic young coach who brings great energy and focus, along with a treasure chest of knowledge and experience in developing tough, competitive and intelligent players. He is just the kind of person and personality I was hoping to inject into our team’s championship culture.”
“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Coach G for his belief in me and for the incredible opportunity to be a part of the tradition-rich Aggie women’s soccer program under his leadership,” Strader said. “My family and I are thrilled to set roots in Aggieland, and we look forward to investing in the lives of student-athletes while becoming an active part of the Texas A&M community.”
Cal Baptist registered a 70-36-22 (.633) record during Strader’s seven years on staff, including 36-20-11 (.619) in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play. He mentored 28 conference award winners at CBU, including three All-WAC selections in 2024. The Lancers also produced 11 United Soccer Coaches All-Region performers during his tenure.
In 2024, CBU won its first WAC Tournament title, earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Lancers pushed No. 9 UCLA to double overtime in the first round.
“I’m really excited for the arrival of the Strader family into the Brazos Valley,” Guerrieri said. “I know they’re going to fit in and flourish.”
Cal Baptist posted winning percentages over .700 in both 2019 (13-5-1 - .711) and 2023 (11-2-6 - .737). The Lancers finished in the top three of the WAC standings in four of Strader’s seven seasons.
“I would also like to thank Cal Baptist head coach Kristen St. Clair for her continuous support over the last seven years and for her investment in my growth,” Strader said. “I am immensely proud of all we accomplished together at CBU, and I know the invaluable experiences gained there have been instrumental in preparing me to hit the ground running at Texas A&M as we pursue our 19th conference title.
“Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to the countless student-athletes I’ve had the privilege of coaching over the years. Your dedication and drive have shaped me into the coach I am today.”
Strader picked up head coach experience at Indiana Wesleyan where he guided the Wildcats from 2014-17. The squad progressed in each of his last three seasons in charge, improving from 4-13-1 in his first year to 15-4-3 during the 2017 campaign with just three recruiting classes. In the final season, the team climbed to No. 1 in the National Christian College Athletic Association and advanced to the title game of the NCCAA Championship.
In all four seasons at IWU, the Wildcats advanced to the Crossroads League Tournament and were named an NAIA Academic Scholar-Athlete team, including leading the nation with the most Academic All-Americans in 2014. On Strader’s watch, the Wildcats produced 14 all-conference selections, three NCCAA All-Americans, 1 Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Year and two NAIA All-Americans.
Prior to Indiana Wesleyan, Strader spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge. During the 2012 season he helped lead the Matadors to their first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament appearance, winning a Big West Tournament title. The magical season included wins over Arizona State and Michigan, along with draws against No. 21 Portland, No. 22 Tennessee and USC.
Strader worked as an assistant coach for the men’s team at Scottsdale Community College in 2010-11, helping the Fighting Artichokes to Arizona Community College Athletic Conference postseason tournament appearances both seasons.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Strader has been a varsity high school coach along with several years of work mentoring at competitive clubs, including a No. 1 ranked boys team in Indiana. He gained coaching experience as an ECNL coach with Indiana Fire and Strikers FC, leading his team to the North America Cup semifinals and a top-three finish in the Southwest Conference.
Strader earned his bachelor’s degree in recreation and sport management from Indiana State University in 2007 and added a master’s degree in recreation, sport and tourism management from the University of Illinois in 2011.
