Aggie Women Compete at SMU Blue & Red Challenge
Nov 06, 2015 | Women's Tennis
DALLAS – The Texas A&M women's tennis team is competing in the SMU Blue and Red Challenge, Friday-Sunday, at the SMU Tennis Complex. The tournament marks the end of the fall season for some players, with a few others concluding the fall season at the Rebel Fall Invite next weekend in Las Vegas.
"The Red and Blue Challenge will close out the fall season of competition for several of our girls," A&M first-year head coach Mark Weaver said. "The round-robin format that we will be using will be a great way to have most of our team competing just as we would in the spring season. Our team has come along quite well in the recent weeks, and hopefully we can have another productive tournament this weekend."
The Aggies open play against Wichita State on Friday at noon. A&M faces Tulsa at noon on Saturday and concludes the tournament against Wyoming on Sunday at 9 a.m.
The Aggies have not competed since hosting the ITA Texas Regional on Oct. 22-26. A&M posted a combined 15-7 record in singles with junior Saska Gavrilovska reaching the semifinals. In doubles, the Aggies went a combined 8-3, with Rutuja Bhosale and Anna Mamalat reaching the finals and finishing 5-1.
