COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies close out the home portion of their regular-season schedule Sunday as they host the No. 11 Auburn Tigers at 5 p.m. on Ellis Field.
The Aggies are looking to build momentum after a 2-1 overtime victory against the Kentucky Wildcats last Thursday. Texas A&M can secure a spot in the SEC Tournament with a victory Sunday. With two matches remaining in the regular-season, the Aggies are four points ahead of LSU and Georgia for the final spot in the tournament.
Texas A&M's defense has stood out in 2016, ranking second in the SEC in goals-against average (0.91). Danielle Rice ranks third in the SEC in goals-against average (0.91) and shutouts (5). Offensively, Haley Pounds ranks fifth in the SEC in assists (7) and eighth in points (19).
Auburn enters Sunday's match in second place in the SEC (8-1-0), one game behind first-place South Carolina in the standings. The Tigers have won seven consecutive SEC matches, the longest league win streak in program history.
