SAN ANTONIO, Texas.- The Texas A&M women's golf team finished in second place at the UTSA Maryb S. Kauth Invitational led by Courtney Dow's score of 209 (-7) which tied the Aggie freshman 54-hole record.
With just one collegiate round of experience before the event, Dow's scores improved each day before capping the tournament with a 67 (-5). The Frisco, Texas native birdied four of the final seven holes to earn her a share of third place, five strokes off tournament champion Alana Uriell (204, -12) of Arkansas.
As a team, the Aggies (853, -11) fired a 283 (-5) on the tournament's final day to finish five strokes back of champion Arkansas (848, -16) and eight shots clear of third-place Tennessee (861, -3). The familiar Briggs Ranch Golf Course has now seen four of the ten best 54-hole team scores in Texas A&M women's golf history. It marks the Aggies third best 54-hole score to par in program history and their top score since the victory in the 2015 SEC Championship.
"I'm am proud of how our team competed and fought through some adversity to have a really good tournament," said head coach Trelle McCombs. "Our team did a good job of sticking to their plan, which paid off for us."
Bianca Fabrizio (210, -6) shot a two-under 70 on the final day of the Invitational, finishing the tournament in a tie for sixth place among the 75-player field. The senior has finished par or better in every event on the season. Maddie Szeryk (213, -3), who entered the day one over par, jumped from 22nd into ninth place after a final round 68 (-4). The performance gives her top ten finishes in each event on the season and 15 for her career.
Seniors Thanya Pattamakijsakul (222, +6) and Andrea Jonama (230, +14) both carded 78 (+6) in the final round to finish in shares of 37th and 62nd respectively. Competing as an individual, Callie Scheffler (232, +16) finished in a tie for 65th.
The Aggies wrap up the fall season in Dallas, Texas at the Trinity Forest Invitational presented by Vic Salvino starting on November 7th.
