Mar 17, 2016 | Softball
COLLEGE STATION – No. 10 Texas A&M softball will open SEC action against No. 4 LSU with a three-game series at the Aggie Softball Complex beginning Friday.
"This weekend is going to be fun," head coach Jo Evans said. "LSU has a great ball club. They have a great pitching staff, and they hit well. They are going to be a tough team to beat, but I love way our kids play the game. I am excited to get out there and get after it."
A&M (25-2) is in the midst of a seven-game winning streak and is coming off a midweek sweep over Georgia Southern. Sophomore Kristen Cuyos continues to lead the SEC with 10 home runs and leads the Aggies with 35 RBI. Sophomore Tori Vidales leads the team with a .417 average with six home runs and 25 RBI.
In the circle, freshman Samantha Show leads the nation with 14 wins and is second in the SEC in strikeouts with 92. Senior Katie Marks posts a 7-0 record with a 1.62 ERA, while sophomore Trinity Harrington is 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA.
LSU is 24-3 on the season and is coming off a record breaking 30-8 victory over Louisiana Tech. Sahvanna Jaquish leads the Tiger offense with a .478 average with nine home runs and 37 RBI. Carley Hoover is 10-0 in the circle with a 1.53 ERA and 92 strikeouts, while Sydney Smith is 6-1 with a 0.71 ERA.
