Match Day Preview: Georgia
Sep 15, 2016 | Soccer
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies continue SEC action at Ellis Field on Friday as they host the Georgia Bulldogs for their annual Go Gold Game at 6 pm.
The Maroon and White enter play with a four-match win streak, all by shutout. Impressively the four shutouts have been recorded with three different starting backline combinations as Ashlynn Harryman and McKayla Paulson have missed action due to injury. Danielle Rice has registered all three shutouts as the goalkeeper, including wins against Tulsa (2-0), Little Rock (1-0), Illinois (2-0) and LSU (3-0). The Aggies have gone 367:68 without allowing a goal. The current shutout string is the longest for Texas A&M since November 2014 when the Maroon and White recorded four consecutive clean sheets, including all three matches at the SEC Tournament. The school record is seven consecutive shutouts, notched in September 2012. That mark fell one shy of the SEC record of eight set by Georgia in 1999.
The contest marks Texas A&M's Go Gold Game, a contest to bring awareness and raise funds for childhood cancer research. To honor those who have won the fight against cancer, and to those still battling, we would like to extend a complimentary ticket to Friday's Go Gold Game, with the option to purchase additional tickets at a special discounted rate. To receive the special offer, enter the promo code: Gold on 12thman.com/tickets.
