Match Day Preview: South Carolina
Sep 28, 2016 | Soccer
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies play a pivotal match Thursday when they host the No. 5 South Carolina Gamecocks at Ellis Field. The Maroon and White are looking to snap a two-match losing streak as they battle the Gamecocks who share the top spot in the SEC standings with Arkansas.

The injury-riddled Aggies were playing without four starters when they dropped decisions at Vanderbilt (2-0) and Alabama (2-1 - ot) last weekend. Texas A&M is hoping to have some of the wounded players available for Thursday's tilt. Junior HALEY POUNDS ranks seventh in the league with 16 points and six goals. Senior goalkeeper DANIELLE RICE leads the SEC in shutouts (five) and ranks second in goals against average (0.72) and fourth in save percentage (.800).

South Carolina enters the fray as the hottest team in the nation, with a 10-match win streak. The Gamecocks are 10-0-1 on the season with a 4-0-0 mark in SEC.
