BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – The No. 3 Texas A&M Equestrian team travels to No. 8 South Carolina for its conference opener at 1 p.m. CT on Friday at One Wood Farm.
"We had a good week of practice, correcting our mistakes that we made last weekend at UT Martin," head coach Tana McKay said. "We know that South Carolina is a good team, and they are coming off a big win to start the year. I'm excited to see how the girls can compete in our first road SEC meet of the season."
The Aggies (1-0) opened the season with a 12-7 victory on Sept. 23 at UT Martin. The Maroon and White won Equitation over Fences and Horsemanship, 3-2, and Reining, 4-1, while tying in Equitation on the Flat at two. Sophomore Rebekah Chenelle (Fences), senior Kaci Fisher (Horsemanship) and junior Madison Bohman (Reining) led the Aggies, earning Most Outstanding Player honors.
South Carolina (1-0) is coming off a 12-6 upset-victory over No. 5 Baylor on Sept. 23. The Gamecocks swept the Bears in Fences, 5-0, won Reining, 3-1, and tied in Horsemanship.
Last season, the two squads met three times, with the Aggies taking the series, 2-1.
