Women’s Basketball Adds McDonald’s All-American & Arkansas Transfer Aaliyah Wilson

Texas A&M women's basketball announced the addition of 2016 McDonald's All-American and Arkansas transfer Aaliyah Wilson (Muskogee, Okla.) on Tuesday. Wilson will sit out the 2017-18 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules and will be a sophomore for the 2018-19 season.
"We are thrilled to add a player and person the caliber of Aaliyah to our team," said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair. "She is a strong guard, who can play either the 2 or 3 position and has her best basketball ahead of her."
Wilson, a 5-11 guard, averaged 4.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 26 games off the bench for the Razorbacks in 2016-17, highlighted by scoring 20 points in Reed Arena against Texas A&M on Jan. 12, and scoring 16 against eventual National Champions South Carolina on Feb. 5.
Wilson was a five-star recruit out of Muskogee (Okla.) HS, where she was a two-time Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year, joining Texas A&M career scoring leader Courtney Walker as Aggies who earned that honor as a prep player. Wilson ranked as the No. 30 prospect and No. 5 guard in the 2016 recruiting class, earning invitations to play in the McDonald's All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic, where she played with and against her new teammate, Ciera Johnson.
She averaged 16.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in 105 games at Muskogee High School, becoming a three-time First Team All-State selection. She helped Muskogee to the Class 6A title game in 2015, averaging 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds for that season.
She played AAU basketball for DFW Elite, the same AAU club that has produced Texas A&M players such as current video coordinator Kristen Grant, Chelsea Jennings, Jordan Jones, Curtyce Knox, Takia Starks and Courtney Walker, in addition to her future teammates, Chennedy Carter and Ciera Johnson.
