Aggies Capture 14 Titles at McFerrin Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field team opened the 2025-26 campaign on the front foot, securing 12 individual titles and two relay wins in the McFerrin Invitational at the R.A. 'Murray' Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field facility Saturday.
Bradie Menegatti set the tone for the day, capturing a first-place finish in the high jump as she cleared 1.75m/5-8.75. Etoro Bassey ensured a sweep of the high jump titles, winning on the men's side with a mark of 2.10m/6-10.75.
Staying dominate on the men's side, Aleksandr Solovev made it three-for-three on titles for the day, soaring over 5.35m/17-6.5 to win the men's pole vault.
Sophia Bendet captured another victory for the Aggies, earning the mile title with a time of 4:49.74. The effort moved her up to No. 9 in the A&M history books.
Jaiya Covington kept the Maroon & White's momentum on the track in the 60m hurdles. She clocked in at 8.22 to beat the field. Blake Harris continued the tidal wave on the men's side, crossing the line at 7.98 to win in the 60m hurdles.
The list of men's winners on the track ballooned with Iliya Dryaba's triumph in the 300m (33.58) and Peter Narumbe prevailing in his collegiate debut in the 600m (1:17.46).
Tharushi Karunarathna spearheaded the Aggies in the 600m, crossing the line in 1:31.31 to win her Maroon & White premiere.
The long jump duo of Morgan Davis and Micah Larry were victorious in their Aggieland introductions. Davis secured the top spot with a leap of 6.26m/20-6.5, entering the A&M all-time performer list at 10th. Larry secured his crown, recording a mark of 7.62m/25-0.
Carlie Weiser registered a throw of 15.33m/50-3.50 to triumph in the shot put.
Closing out the day for the Aggies was the men's and women's 4x400m relay groups. The quartet of Tyler Lowe, Camryn Dickson, Sofia Yakushina and Nia Trammell topped the women's event as the group crossed the line in 3:38.76. The men's team included Ja'Qualon Scott, Eric Hemphill, Auhmad Robinson and Lawson Jacobs, who grabbed the 14th and final victory of the day in 3:05.55.
The Maroon & White also picked up another two all-time marks in the season opener, as Lily Carlson stunned in her pole vault debut with a clearance of 4.27m/14-0 which entered her at No. 3 on the Texas A&M all-time performers list. Avery Perkins also grabbed an all-time mark after crossing the line in the 1,000m in 2:51.80 to rank eighth in the history books.
