No. 9 Aggies Host Three-Match Weekend, Open Conference Play Against LSU Tigers

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 9 Texas A&M men's tennis team hosts three matches at the Mitchell Tennis Center this weekend with matches against LSU, Florida State, and Lamar.
The Aggies will kick off the weekend with its conference opener against the LSU Tigers on Saturday, with first serve set for 11 a.m. The Maroon & White will host its first double-header of the season on Sunday, facing FSU at 12 p.m. and Lamar at 5 p.m.
Texas A&M is 5-3 this season and coming off an upset against conference opponent Kentucky at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. Junior Togan Tokac had an undefeated weekend at the ITA Indoors, winning his two finished matches on court 5. The No. 34 doubles duo of Tokac and freshman Theo Papamalamis are looking to continue their undefeated streak, dominating on court 1 since paired together.
The Aggies now have two singles players and three doubles duos in the top 50 of the ITA Rankings. Senior JC Roddick climbed to 37 after his successful ITA Indoors weekend, including claiming the Aggies' lone point against No. 4 Texas. Papamalamis moved up to No. 42 after his resilience this past weekend. While two of his matches went unfinished, he showcased his ability to come back after starting with a deficit against Kentucky.
Along with Tokac/Papamalamis, Tokac completes the other half of two more ranked doubles duos. Tokac and senior Giulio Perego are ranked No. 24, while Tokac and senior Luke Casper hold the No. 35 spot.
LSU (7-3) are coming off a win against Tulane, 6-1. The Aggies and Tigers split matches last season with the Maroon & White tallying a 5-2 road in the regular season but falling 4-3 two weeks later in the first round of the SEC Tournament, which was contested on LSU's campus.
Florida State (7-3) heads into Sunday's match on the heels of a loss against No. 19 Alabama, 4-3, in Tallahassee. The teams have not faced each other since 2017, with the Maroon & White leading the all-time series, 2-1.
Lamar is 7-4 this season and will face Abilene Christian Saturday morning before heading to College Station. The last time these two teams met, the Aggies swept the Cardinals 7-0, with Casper and fellow returnees Grant Lothringer, Lathan Skrobarcek and Ethan Silva all tallying singles wins.
