Aggies Record Seven All-Time Marks at Battle on the Bayou and Raleigh Relays

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Track & Field team recorded seven all-time marks at the Battle on the Bayou and Raleigh Relays Friday.
The Aggies had strong showings in both meet locations, as the group secured three event wins and four all-time marks in Baton Rouge, while the group in Raleigh tacked on another three times which entered the A&M history books.
Battle on the Bayou
Battling the elements in Louisiana, Bryce McCray set the tone for the group capturing the first win of the day in the 400m hurdles. The senior ran out of lane five and left nothing to chance, crossing the line in 50.61, nearly two seconds faster than his closest competition.
Taking that momentum to the field, Khybah Dawson captured his first long jump crown of the outdoor season, leaping 7.62m/25-0 to ensure his win. Mason Mangum and Gavin Champ also secured top-eight finishes in the event, as Mangum leapt 7.37m/24-2.25 for sixth, while Champ's mark of 7.16m/23-6 was good for eighth. On the women's side of the event, Sofia Yakushina impressed with a second-place finish with a leap of 6.32m/20-9.
Rounding out the victories on the day was Aleksandr Solovev in his first action of the outdoor season. He cleared 5.40m/17-8.5 in the pole vault to rank ninth in school history. Jack Mann III took fourth in the event also with a mark of 5.40m/17-8.5 which tied his personal best, while Ryley Klefstad placed seventh after a successful attempt of 5.15m/16-10.75. Heather Abadie also delivered a top-five result for the women with a clearance of 4.10m/13-5.25.
The throws group both secured fourth in the men's and women's javelin, as Thomas Jackman recorded a mark of 56.20m/184-4 on the men's side, while McKenzie Fairchild had a season-best performance of 49.09m/161-0.
Moving back to the track in the 200m, Auhmad Robinson and Camryn Dickson claimed fifth in the men's and women's events with times of 20.60 and 22.93, respectively. Debora Cherono grabbed the No. 3 slot all time in the women's 1,500m after crossing the line in 4:18.36, while Austin Owen claimed No. 12 all-time in the 3,000m steeplechase after a sub 11-minute time of 10:59.78. Closing out the results on the oval was the 5,000m group, as they secured a top-five results in both the men's and women's event with Noah Willows taking third for the men (14:36.82), while Shewaye Johnson was fifth for the women (16:43.62).
Raleigh Relays
The Aggies carried their momentum into the final day of competition in North Carolina, as Elise Smoot got the women's group going in the 1,500m. The senior clocked a personal-best time of 4:26.44 to enter the all-time performers list at the No. 12 slot.
Doubling down in the 3,000m steeplechase, Kennady Fontenot and Emma Little both recorded top-10 finishes. Fontenot ran the second-fastest time in school history behind only her own school record, crossing the line in 10:08.47 for fifth place. Little was close behind, finishing ninth with a personal-best time of 10:16.08 which jumped her up six spots in the A&M history books to No. 3.
Megan Roberts continued the all-time displays in the women's invitational 10,000m, as the freshman ran an impressive time of 33:31.12 which debuted her third all-time for the Maroon & White in the event.
