No. 3 Aggies Notch Another Comeback Ranked Road Win

AUBURN – Nicole Khirin battled for a three-set win to clinch the No. 3 Texas A&M women's tennis team's 4-3 victory over the No. 6 Auburn Tigers Friday evening at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
No. 15 Khirin capped off the triumph, prevailing 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 over No. 99 Ava Hrastar on Court 2. The nail-biter was knotted 2-2 in the third set before Khirin rattled off three consecutive games to take control.
The Maroon & White battled back from a 3-1 deficit to improve to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in the SEC.
Auburn (12-4, 1-3 SEC) claimed the doubles point, prevailing on Court 2 and 3.
Lexington Reed continued to be a singles spark for the Aggies. She carved up Alice Battesti, 6-1, 6-0 on Court 6. It marked the fourth consecutive time Reed recorded the first singles point for Texas A&M and it knotted the match at 1-1.
Auburn responded with wins on Court 3 and Court 5 setting up Texas A&M's late match road heroics for the second time in 13 days.
No. 57 Lucciana Perez toppled No. 28 Merna Refaat, 6-3, 6-1, on Court 4. No. 3 Mary Stoiana equalized the match with a 6-4, 6-3 dismantling of No. 4 DJ Bennett on Court 1.
Texas A&M returns to action Sunday when the Maroon & White battle the Florida Gators in an 11 a.m. match from Ring Tennis Complex.
