Matt Doles

Matt Doles is in his 14th season as assistant athletic trainer at Texas A&M. He is responsible for all athletic training duties for men’s basketball and also works with the men’s golf program.
Doles spent the two seasons prior to coming to Aggieland at UTEP, where he worked with the men’s basketball and men’s and women’s track and field programs. He also taught several athletic training clinical classes as well as a sports management class. Doles worked with the UTEP women’s basketball team his first year.
A native of Albuquerque, Doles graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. He received a master’s degree in sports administration from UNM in 2001. While at New Mexico, he served as the graduate assistant trainer for women’s volleyball, women’s swimming and diving, track and field and football.
From 1999-01, Doles worked as a trainer at UNM’s summer sports camps. In addition to handling athletic training duties, he also assisted in the administration of the camps. In the spring of 2001, Doles was athletic trainer for the New Mexico Activities Association, providing medical coverage for the New Mexico high school state basketball championships at UNM’s University Arena.
In the summer of 2000, he worked as a volunteer at the New Mexico Games and was in charge of event management at several venues. He was a guest speaker at the Society for the Study of the Legal Aspects of Sports and Physical Activity Conference in 2000. Doles is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association.
He and his wife, the former Deanna Johnson, have two daughters, Angelica and Madison.
