David Waxman enters his fourth year as Assistant Media Relations Director at Texas A&M, serving as the primary media contact for the Aggie women’s basketball and women’s golf programs.
Since arriving at Texas A&M in 2013, Waxman has handled the publicity for the women’s basketball program, including the team’s run to the 2014 NCAA Elite Eight. He has handled the publcity for the women’s golf program since 2014, including for the team’s 2015 SEC Championship, and served as the media coordinator for the 2016 NCAA Bryan Women’s Golf Regional.
Waxman came to Aggieland after spending 2012-13 at Rice, where Waxman worked with the Owls’ women’s basketball, volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams. He served as the media coordinator for the 2013 Conference USA Track and Field Championship, hosted by Rice.
Waxman spent 2010-12 at North Texas, where he served as the media relations contact for the women’s soccer and women’s swimming programs, in addition to being named women’s basketball contact for the 2011-12 season, where he worked with current University of Texas head coach Karen Aston.
During that same time frame, Waxman served on the game night stat crew for the Dallas Mavericks, including the 2011 NBA Playoffs and NBA Finals.
Waxman worked in SMU’s athletic public relations office during his four years as a student, and was named primary contact for SMU’s standout men’s and women’s soccer programs in 2009. He also worked extensively with the football program, making the trip with the team to the 2009 Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl.
In addition to his experience with the Mustangs while in school, Waxman held internships with the Texas Rangers and FC Dallas during the 2009 season.
Waxman has worked numerous championship events during his career, including Super Bowl XLV, the 2011 NBA Finals, the 2011 and 2016 NCAA Men’s Final Four, the 2010 NCAA Men’s College World Series and the 2011 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional that saw the Aggies clinch their first Final Four berth.
Waxman graduated from SMU with a B.B.A in Management in 2010. A native of Houston, Texas, he is joined in Aggieland by his sister, Sandra, who is a senior at Texas A&M.
