No. 2 Texas A&M Closes Out Fall Slate at No. 5 Oklahoma State
Nov 18, 2017 | Equestrian
STILLWATER, Okla. – The second-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team travels to No. 5 Oklahoma State Sunday at 11 a.m. at Totusek Arena for the Aggies' fall finale.
"First of all, I have to thank Oklahoma State for making the arrangements to allow us to change the meet day so we could go to the White House," head coach Tana McKay said. "I am really looking forward to going to Stillwater. We haven't been there in five years. Our seniors have never been there, and we don't know their horses. They are always a really tough team. I am looking forward to getting up there and competing with them and seeing how our kids do in uncharted territory.
"We get comfortable with a lot of the horses in the SEC, and we are going to see a lot of horses we don't know anything about, so it is hard to prepare for them as we are coming up to it. This will be a true test to how our athletes can focus and get what they need to get done in a short amount of time. It will be a true, raw atmosphere for them."
The Aggies (6-1, 2-1 SEC) are coming off a thrilling tiebreaker-win against then-No. 3 Auburn, 9-9 (1520-1389), on Nov. 3. The Maroon & White claimed victories in Horsemanship, 4-1, and Equitation over Fences, 3-2. Caroline Dance notched her first MOP honor of her career in Fences and Bailey Cook was named MOP in Horsemanship.
The Cowgirls enter the meet with a 2-2 (2-0 Big 12) ledger and are fresh off a 13-6 win against TCU on Nov. 10. Oklahoma State opened the season with a 14-4 win against Baylor on Oct. 7, but fell to SMU (Oct. 21) and South Carolina (Oct. 27) on the road.
