No. 19 Aggies Travel to Waco to Face Bears

WACO – The No. 19 Texas A&M women's tennis team heads to Waco, TX for a Sunday matchup with the Baylor Bears. First serve is set for 4 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The Aggies head to face the Bears behind a freshly ranked trio of singles players and one doubles pair. Still holding strong as the No. 1 player in the nation, Mary Stoiana protected her ranking for the second time this season. Nicole Khirin moved up to No. 19 in the rankings, prompting her highest rank of the season. Rounding out the Aggies, Mia Kupres sits at No. 29 on the list. Kupres/Stoiana stay in the top five of doubles, sitting at No. 4.
Last time out, the Aggies (6-5) secured their fourth sweep of the season, topping Rice 7-0. The Maroon & White began their dominance in doubles with Sydney Fitch/Khirin and Kupres/Stoiana each taking a court and the doubles point. Daria Smetannikov and Jeanette Mireles started singles action with wins on court 5 and 6, respectively. Shortly after Khirin, Kupres and Stoiana picked up three singles wins. Securing the sweep, Lucciana Perez claimed court 4 to seal the deal.
This will be the 20th all-time meeting between the Aggies and Bears (5-4), with A&M holding a strong 12-2 advantage in the series and defeating Baylor the last two matchups. The Maroon & White also hold a 5-2 record at the Hurd Tennis Center.
"We are a team that is heading in the right direction and playing some very good tennis" head coach Mark Weaver said. "Baylor has been an in-state rival of ours for quite some time and we are very much looking forward to the opportunity to compete with them Sunday."
