Five Aggies Headed to ITA Women’s All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. – Five Aggies will represent Texas A&M women's tennis in the ITA Women's All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Park from Sept. 21-29 for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
No. 88 Jeanette Mireles and No. 68 Lucciana Perez play Monday in the qualifying round of 64 against Washington's No. 60 Reece Carter and UCLA's Kate Fakih, respectively. No. 1 Mary Stoiana, No. 9 Nicole Khirin and No. 20 Mia Kupres compete in the main draw on Wednesday. In doubles, No 55. Mireles/Khirin take on Tennessee's No. 23 Elza Tomase and Catherine Aulia on Monday in the qualifying round of 32.
Stoiana concluded her 2023-24 campaign with a 38-4 singles record, including 26 ranked wins. She received numerous honors for her stellar junior season, most notably the ITA National Player of the Year award and the Honda Sports Award For Tennis. The senior received her second-straight SEC Player of the Year award and was the NCAA Tournament MVP, earning All-America honors in singles and doubles.
Khirin claimed 28 singles victories and 20 doubles victories in her sophomore season, including 16 ranked singles wins. She garnered All-SEC First Team as well as NCAA All-Tournament Team honors in both singles and doubles. Khirin was also named as the Texas Region ITA Player to Watch for the upcoming season.
Kupres accumulated a 23-9 record in singles and partnered with Stoiana to claim 28 doubles wins, with 30 of her victories coming against against ranked opponents. The junior earned All-SEC First team honors, was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team for doubles and earned All-America honors in doubles.
Perez ended her freshman season with a 22-7 singles record and added 15 wins in doubles, including five ranked wins. The sophomore was the first player in program history to be named SEC Freshman of the Year. She was also named All-SEC Second Team and All-Freshman Team. Following the conclusion of the season, Perez was named the ITA Texas Region Rookie of the Year.
Mireles amassed a 22-12 record in singles and added 14 more victories in doubles. The senior was one of four members to reach double-digit wins (10) in conference play, which ranked as the second-highest total in the conference behind only Stoiana. Mireles was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team and the NCAA All-Tournament Team for doubles.
