Aggies Fall to Georgia in ITA Indoor Finals

EVANSTON – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team fell to No. 1 Georgia in the ITA Indoor Team Championship final, 4-1, at the Combe Tennis Center.
The Aggies (8-1) reached the indoor finals for the first time in program history in dominant fashion, taking down Illinois (4-0). No. 11 Texas (4-2) and No. 12 Oklahoma (4-2) before falling to Georgia.
The Bulldogs (7-1) began the match with the lead after securing the doubles point, winning on courts 1 and 2. Texas A&M battled hard in singles, but Georgia was able to secure three victories on courts 1, 4 and 6.
No. 101 Mia Kupres claimed the lone point for the Maroon & White, besting Mell Reasco in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(1). No. 12 Nicole Khirin was up on court 2, while No. 125 Daria Smetannikov and No. 43 Lucciana Perez were both headed into a third set before the match was clinched.
