Aggies Host No. 16 Pepperdine

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team hosts No. 16 Pepperdine Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
The Aggies (8-1) are fresh off a trip to the ITA Indoor Team Championship finals, the first time in program history the Maroon & White have made it to the indoor final, after taking down Illinois, No. 11 Texas and No. 12 Oklahoma.
The Aggies will be recognized for winning the 2024 National Championship before the match begins. The Maroon & White finished the 2023-24 season 28-7, culminating in a win over Georgia in the NCAA Championship, 4-1, to win their first National Title in program history.
Texas A&M boasts five players in the ITA Top 125, highlighted by reigning ITA National Player of the Year, No. 3 Mary Stoiana, who leads the team in ranked wins with 10. All American Nicole Khirin ranks as the No. 12 singles player in the nation. The Junior has eight ranked victories and is on a 10-match winning streak heading into the match.
Rounding out the rankings for the Aggies are 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year and ITA Texas Region Rookie of the Year Lucciana Perez at 41, 2024 doubles All-American Mia Kupres at 101 and No. 125 Daria Smetannikov, who leads the team in total wins with 20.
Pepperdine features three ranked players in singles, including No. 16 Savannah Broadus, No. 81 Vivian Yang and No. 108 Duru Soke. In doubles action, Broadus and Yang pair to rank as the No. 7 duo in the nation.
