No. 11 Aggies Sweep Vanderbilt for 50th-Straight Home Win

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 11 Texas A&M women's tennis team swept Vanderbilt for its 50th-straight win at the Mitchell Tennis Center Friday, 7-0.
The Aggies (14-6, 6-1 SEC) got off to a quick start in doubles, as courts 3 and 5 clinched their matches in quick succession. Jeanette Mireles and Lucciana Perez struck first, as the duo downed Vanderbilt's (8-5, 3-3 SEC) Bridget Stammel/Valeria Ray on court 3, 6-4. Immediately after, Nicole Khirin/Sydney Fitch ensured the doubles point besting Holly Staff/Amy Stevens on court 5, 6-3.
A&M continued its momentum into singles through No. 14 Khirin on court 2. The sophomore dominated No. 66 Stammel (6-2, 6-2) for her 13th-straight singles win, and doubled the Aggie lead, 2-0.
Freshman standout Perez left the Maroon & White one point from victory, as she claimed a straight-set win on court 4 over Anessa Lee (6-2, 6-1). No. 36 Mia Kupres followed up right after securing the Aggies sixth-conference win of the season, as she downed Ray on court 3 (6-3, 6-1).
Playing out the remaining courts, Daria Smetannikov added the fifth point of the match with a win on court 6 versus Stevens (6-4, 6-4). No. 1 Mary Stoiana claimed her 14th-ranked win of the season, downing No. 11 Celia-Belle Mohr (6-2, 6-4). The final win of the day came from Mireles on court 5, as the junior outlasted Staff (6-3, 7-5) to ensure the sweep, 7-0.
