Jamie Morrison delivered the ultimate prize to Aggieland during the 2025 campaign, claiming the first national championship title in program history during his third season at the helm. He guided the Maroon & White through Campbell, TCU, Louisville, Nebraska, Pitt and Kentucky with a combined set total of 18-5 throughout the championship run. Morrison’s impressive season earned him the highest honor for NCAA volleyball coaching, as he was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) Division I Women’s Coach of the Year.
Morrison enters his fourth season as head coach of Texas A&M volleyball program already leading the team to a national championships, a Sweet 16 appearance and three-straight NCAA Tournament berths. Prior to being named the program’s seventh head coach on December 16, 2022, Morrison was serving as the head coach of the United States U19 national team, a position he still holds, and was the Director of Sports Performance for League One Volleyball, a 10-team professional league which debuted in 2024.
Morrison boasts a 66-25 record at Texas A&M, including an 32-17 ledger in league play. His leadership booked A&M’s spots in three consecutive NCAA Tournaments, marking the first time with three-straight berths since the 2016 season. During his time with the Aggies, he has produced six AVCA All-Americans, as well as nine AVCA All-District, eight All-SEC and four NCAA Tournament Team selections.
During the 2025 campaign, Morrison guided the Maroon & White to a 29-4 record which marked the most wins in a single season since 1984. A&M’s success in conference play stood out, boasting a 14-1 ledger which was good for second. The win total ranks as their most in a year since 2016 and highest finish since 2015. The Aggies’ national championship win made them the 13th program in NCAA history to claim a title, while coach Morrison became the 18th head coach to lead his team to a title. A&M’s run to the title involved a pair of wins at Reed Arena in the opening two rounds versus Campbell (3-0) and TCU (3-1). Morrison led his team back to Nebraska for the regional rounds for the second-straight year, leading off with a reverse-sweep victory over No. 2 seed Louisville. The Maroon & White were then set for a matchup with the No. 1 overall seed and regional hosts, Nebraska, and put on the game of the tournament. The Aggies took a two-set advantage which would ultimately be met be returned by the Cornhuskers to send the programs to a deciding fifth set which A&M edged the contest 15-13 in the final frame. Morrison’s squad was then sent to Kansas City for their first Final Four appearance and made quick work of both Pitt in the semifinals and Kentucky in the final with sweeps to ensure their national crown.
Morrison’s success’ in 2025 also captivated the 12thMan, as the program secured record attendances throughout the campaign. Average fan attendance reached a record 4,529 which was No. 1 in the conference, while also achieving a single-game high of 9,801 in the Aggies’ 3-2 win over No. 2 Texas on Halloween night and overall season attendance with 54,347 fans packing Reed Arena throughout the year. Morrison’s group also helped deliver eight of the top 10 single-game attendances last season. The fans made Aggieland and Reed Arena specifically a fortress, as the Maroon & White boasted a 12-1 record at home in 2025.
Morrison led the Aggies to a 21-8 record in the 2024 season, marking the program’s highest win total since 2019. He also recorded a 10-6 finish in SEC play to rank fifth in the league, which was also the best team result since the 2019 season. Morrison and the Aggies defended home court throughout the year, boasting a 10-3 ledger at Reed Arena. His team got off to a historic start during the campaign, winning their first eight matches which tied for the third-best start to a season in program history. The Maroon & White also tallied a trio of ranked wins throughout the 2024 campaign, highlighted by a conference victory on the road over the No. 7 Longhorns in a five-set thriller. Morrison’s group also claimed another standout win over No. 8 Arizona State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, securing its first Sweet 16 berth since the 2019 season. The Aggies concluded the 2024 season ranked No. 16 nationally, which is tied for their fifth-highest final ranking in A&M’s record books.
Continuing to stand out on the international stage, Morrison added to his medal collection in the summer of 2025 as he led the U19 national team to gold at the NORCECA Pan American Cup. The team won all three of its matches in pool play and held that momentum, as it won its semifinal matchup versus the Dominican Republic and ensured the tournament title with a sweep in the final versus Mexico. In his previous years working with the U19 group, he has also claimed gold at the 2024 NORCECA Championships, 2023 FIVB World Championships and 2022 Pan American Cup. In his four seasons with the U19’s he holds an unblemished 24-0 record.
During his debut season in Aggieland, he led the squad to a 16-12 regular season record, including an 8-10 finish in conference play. Morrison also guided the program to its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2019. The Aggies’ blocking was where they held their hat, as the group ranked in the top-10 nationally and had the No.1 blocker in the country in Ifenna Cos-Okpalla, who finished the season blocking 1.62 swings per set.
Prior to his time with in Aggieland, Morrison was a part of three United States Olympic medal-winning squads, as he won gold with the men’s team in Beijing (2008), then silver and bronze with the women’s teams in London (2012) and Rio (2016), respectively.
International volleyball remained a love of Morrison’s, as he traveled to the Netherlands and served a three-year stint coaching the women’s national team (2017-19). During his time with the Dutch squad, he led them to a silver-medal finish at the 2017 European Championships and a fourth-place result at the 2018 World Championships.
He served collegiate coaching stints at Texas (2020-2021), UC Irvine (2012-13), Concordia [Calif.] (2006-08), USC (2004-05) and UC Santa Barbara (1999-2003) and helped lead three of those teams to the national semifinals or finals.
Morrison graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in business economics in 2002. He and his wife, Kim, have a daughter named Andi and a son named Micah.
